Vintage Quilt Hexagonal Star

This charming 68" x 48" Hexagonal Star Cutter Quilt is a beautiful example of a well-loved vintage quilt that still showcases the artistry of its maker despite years of use. The striking six-pointed star design is created from a delightful assortment of vintage cottons, including woven ginghams, dress prints, shirtings, and colorful solids, many of which are characteristic of the late 1930s through the 1940s. The quilt is finished with an applied binding that has been hand stitched, and the hand quilting adds wonderful texture throughout. A thin layer of batting gives the quilt a soft, well-worn feel while allowing the intricate handwork to remain the focal point.

As a true cutter quilt, this piece has extensive wear that makes it best suited for repurposing, textile art, or creative projects rather than everyday use. There are numerous areas of fabric loss and deterioration throughout the quilt, along with scattered spots and staining. The hand-stitched binding has several areas of fraying and tears, reflecting the quilt's long history of use. Every effort has been made to photograph the condition and highlight the most significant imperfections; however, additional flaws may be present. Despite its condition, many of the colorful Hexagonal Star blocks remain intact, offering a wonderful opportunity to preserve pieces of this vintage quilt in new creations or to display it as a beautifully aged example of early American quiltmaking.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any Cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences.
