Vintage Quilt Ohio Star

This blue-and-white Ohio Star quilt features 15 star blocks framed by blue sashing and a wide border. Striped fabrics add movement to the stars, while the hand quilting brings texture to the finished quilt. It has thin batting with a bit of loft and an applied, hand-stitched binding.

This quilt shows its age. The binding has significant fraying, and the centers of the stars have significant fading. The back has a few spots, some fairly large and areas of yellowing. The quilt is dirty and would benefit from a careful soak after colorfastness testing. Please review all photos closely for its condition as all sale are final. 

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences. I highly recommend testing the colors for fastness before washing this quilt. Please read the stain disclaimer below as all sales are final. 

  • Condition: Well used. Binding is fraying. Center of stars squares are faded. Some large spots on the back and some yellowing.
  • Circa: Likely 1930s–1940s, based on the quilt’s blue-and-white striped fabrics, pale blue prints, and overall style.
