This is a cutter/stacker quilt.

This charming Mixed Era Dresden Plate Quilt is a wonderful example of quiltmaking across generations. It measures approximately 71" x 86" and features 20 Dresden Plate blocks set against a warm pink background. Floral sashing, dark nine-patch cornerstones, and a lively pieced triangle border complete the design.

The Dresden Plates contain an appealing assortment of vintage cottons, including what appear to be feedsack fabrics dating from approximately the 1930s–1950s. The sashing, background, and outer border appear to include fabrics from a later era, suggesting that older Dresden Plate blocks were eventually assembled and finished by another quiltmaker.

The quilt has medium-weight batting with a bit of loftiness. The binding is a variation of a knife’s-edge finish and is hand stitched.

Two of the Dresden Plates are in poor condition, although their simple construction should make them relatively easy to replace or creatively repair. The quilt also has some staining. Because of these condition issues, it is being offered as a cutter quilt—ideal for restoration, repurposing, or displaying as a beautifully imperfect piece of textile history.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences. I highly recommend testing the colors for fastness before washing this quilt.
