Vintage Quilt  Pinwheel Variation

This charming little quilt is a lovely 1930s variation of the traditional Pinwheel block, pieced in soft feed sack fabrics that give it such a gentle, comforting vintage feel. The mix of faded pinks, dusty blues, soft creams, and tiny printed feed sack patterns creates a beautifully quiet palette, while the striped red binding adds the sweetest finishing touch and just enough cheerful contrast. The blocks dance across the quilt in a playful way, giving it both movement and that humble farmhouse simplicity so often found in Depression-era quilts.

Measuring approximately 35" x 70", this is an unusual and wonderful size that was likely made as a lap quilt or comfort quilt for everyday use. The narrow shape makes it perfect draped across a bench, ladder, or the foot of a bed, while still being wonderfully usable for cozy evenings. The feed sack fabrics and hand-done feel carry all the warmth and resourcefulness of the 1930s — a time when quilts were stitched not only for beauty, but for comfort, practicality, and love. This quilt may have been larger at some point and reduced to remove worn or stained portions. It is hand quilted with machine binding.

Please note this quilt does have spots in several areas on the front, consistent with age and years of use. It has not been laundered by Janj Threads and retains a very faint vintage storage smell noticeable upon close handling. Even with these signs of age, this quilt remains a wonderfully charming piece full of history, softness, and authentic vintage character.
