Vintage Quilt Garden Bouquet Applique

This exceptional Nancy Page Garden Bouquet quilt features 20 different appliquéd flowers rising from carefully pieced green urns. The original Garden Bouquet design included a pair of birds with each flower, but this maker chose to omit them, creating a lovely birdless variation that places the emphasis squarely on the colorful botanical sampler. Published as a syndicated Nancy Page newspaper series in 1931–1932, the pattern’s distinctive diamond-block setting provides generous areas for quilting. This example is beautifully hand quilted with elaborate feathered and geometric designs that add remarkable movement and texture throughout. Measuring approximately 74" x 90", it contains midweight batting with a pleasant bit of loftiness and is finished with an applied binding that is hand stitched in place.

The quilt is in excellent condition, with no fabric loss or deterioration. Its pastel pink backing is spotless and provides a soft, complementary finish. Based on the pattern’s publication history, fabrics, and construction, this quilt dates to approximately circa 1932–1940. A wonderful and seldom-seen interpretation of Nancy Page’s Garden Bouquet, it combines charming floral appliqué, striking period design, and truly beautiful hand quilting.

This quilt has been gently laundered by Janj Threads using quilt-safe methods. While every effort has been made to preserve the quilt's original character, signs of age and use may still be present. The quilt is clean, fresh, and ready to enjoy.
