Vintage Quilt Dresden Plate Variation

This charming Dresden Plate Variation quilt measures approximately 70" x 94" and features twelve large, scrappy rings arranged against crisp white backgrounds with soft lavender sashing and borders. Each ring is pieced from a wonderful assortment of vintage cotton dress prints, checks, florals, novelty designs and likely feedsack fabrics, then appliquéd with contrasting blanket stitches. Separate fabric circles accent the centers. Dense hand quilting at approximately 6 stitches per inch includes straight-line designs throughout the blocks and graceful curved motifs in the sashing and borders. The batting is thin, giving the quilt a soft, lightweight feel.

The applied binding is hand stitched. This quilt has one small hole and scattered spots, as shown in the photographs, but it remains a lovely example of resourceful, scrappy quiltmaking. It has not been washed by Janj Threads. Based on its fabrics, colors and construction, we would place this quilt circa 1940s.

This Quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences.

Condition: Good vintage condition. A few spots on front and back. Some seam seperation. See photos
