Vintage Quilt Dresden Plate Variation

Bright, cheerful, and full of Depression-era charm, this Dresden Plate Variation Quilt showcases six oversized eight-petal flowers hand appliquéd onto crisp white blocks, all set against a sunny butter-yellow background. Measuring 42" x 80", this narrower quilt is an excellent size for a sofa throw, porch swing, or wall display. The flowers are created from a delightful assortment of 1930s feedsack and vintage cotton prints, including florals, novelty prints, and cheerful calicos that make each bloom unique. The hand quilting is equally impressive, featuring a lovely diamond lattice pattern in the white blocks and complementary geometric quilting throughout the yellow sashing. The appliqué, quilting, and applied binding have all been finished by hand, and the quilt contains very lightweight batting, giving it a soft, supple drape. There are some spots on front and back so be sure to look thru the photos.

This quilt captures the optimism and resourcefulness of the Depression era, when colorful feedsack fabrics were transformed into beautiful works of art. The vibrant mix of fabrics, sunny palette, and meticulous handwork make it a wonderful example of mid-century American quilting. It remains in good vintage condition with only minor age-related wear, allowing its craftsmanship and charming fabrics to shine. Whether displayed as a piece of textile history or enjoyed as a cozy accent in your home, this quilt is sure to bring warmth and character to any collection.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences.
