Vintage Quilt Calico Sash Dresden Plate Variation

This vintage Dresden Plate quilt measures 58" × 72" and pairs colorful plates made from a variety of fabrics with sweet, ditzy-print feedsack sashing. Twelve plates sit against cream backgrounds, giving each little collection of prints a chance to shine. The quilt has an applied, hand-stitched binding and sparse hand quilting, primarily worked in the ditch along the seams. With very thin batting—or possibly none—it has a lightweight feel.

Please note the significant stains on the front. Some appear glue-like, although their source is unknown, and I suspect they will remain even with additional washing. The backing also has numerous spots that may improve with soaking, but removal is not guaranteed. Janj Threads has given this quilt a quick wash on the delicate cycle with air dry; overall, it would benefit from a more thorough soak-and-rinse process. Please review the photos carefully and appreciate this quilt with its visible imperfections.

This quilt has been gently laundered by Janj Threads using quilt safe methods. While every effort has been made to preserve the quilt's original character, signs of age and use may still be present. The quilt is clean but may benefit from further laundering.

  • Condition: Structurally sound, but has stains & spots
  • Circa: 1930s–1950s, based on the feedsack sashing and assortment of fabrics used in the Dresden Plates. Some fabrics may predate the quilt’s assembly; the exact date of completion is unknown
  • Size: 58"x72"
  • Batting: Lightweight/none
  • Standout: Darling ditzy calico sash
  • Shipping: (within the continental U.S.) shipping/insurance is included in the price of the item.

    Please Read Before Purchasing 🤍

Due to the vintage and handmade nature of the items sold at Janj Threads, all sales are final.

We do our very best to carefully inspect each piece and note any flaws, fabric wear, fading, dye bleeding, spots, stains, repairs, or damage within the listing description and photos. However, because these quilts and textiles are often decades old, we may occasionally miss something.

Please take time to carefully review all photos provided for each item before completing your purchase.

Photos containing a green tag are intended to highlight an imperfection or area of concern. The green tag measures approximately 2” x 2” and is included to help give perspective on the size of the flaw. Cutter/Stacker quilts do not have green tags. Please review the photos carefully.

Vintage quilts and textiles carry the beauty of age, history, and use, and minor imperfections are often part of their story and charm. If you have any questions about an item, please reach out prior to purchase. We are always happy to help.

Color Disclaimer: While Janj Threads makes every effort to accurately represent the colors of each quilt through photographs, colors may appear differently depending on your computer monitor, phone, tablet, or other viewing device. Variations in screen settings, brightness, and display technology can affect how colors are perceived. As a result, the quilt you receive may vary slightly in color from what you see on your screen. If color accuracy is especially important to your purchasing decision, please feel free to contact us with any questions before purchasing. All sales are final.

Stain Disclaimer: Vintage and antique textiles may have stains, discoloration, or other marks of unknown origin. Janj Threads does not test stains and cannot confirm their source or composition through visual inspection alone. Although a stain is not necessarily biological, it could potentially contain or have originated from human or animal biological material. Without appropriate laboratory testing, no stain can be definitively identified.

We do our best to photograph visible spots, stains, yellowing, and other condition issues so that customers can make informed purchasing decisions. Removing stains or yellowing may require extensive soaking or laundering, and some discoloration may be permanent.

If you have concerns about the origin of a stain or your personal comfort or safety when handling an antique textile, please consider those concerns carefully before purchasing. All Janj Threads sales are final.
