Vintage Trip Around the World Quilt

The outer border on this quilt is a soft ecru color. In some images it may appear as a buttery yellow.

This charming vintage Trip Around the World quilt measures approximately 80" x 86" and showcases a delightful collection of Depression-era feedsack prints, shirtings, ginghams, plaids, and apparel fabrics. Cheerful novelty prints, colorful plaids, and classic geometric fabrics create a wonderfully scrappy look that reflects the resourceful spirit of quiltmakers from the 1930s and 1940s. The quilt is hand quilted with a machine-applied knife-edge binding and features a soft ecru surround that beautifully frames the vibrant Trip Around the World center. Upon close inspection, it appears the colorful center section may have been created earlier and later incorporated into the finished quilt, almost as an appliquéd centerpiece, giving this piece an especially interesting story and construction history. This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads.

Whether displayed on a bed, draped over a quilt ladder, or treasured as part of a collection, this quilt offers a wonderful glimpse into the past. The combination of feedsack fabrics and repurposed clothing textiles creates a rich tapestry of color and pattern, with each piece contributing to the quilt's unique character. The hand quilting adds lovely texture throughout, while the soft ecru setting allows the vintage fabrics to take center stage. From the charming nursery novelty prints to the classic plaids and shirtings, this quilt embodies the creativity and thrift of an earlier era and is a beautiful example of American quiltmaking ingenuity.
