Vintage Eight-Point Star With Diamond Lattice Quilt

There is something undeniably cheerful about this Vintage Eight-Point Star Quilt with Scalloped Border. Measuring a generous 86" x 100", this beauty features thirty colorful eight-point stars arranged in a graceful lattice of soft yellow diamonds, all set against a crisp white background. The stars are pieced from a delightful assortment of vintage cotton prints, many of which appear to be feedsack fabrics dating to the Depression and World War II eras. The hand quilting is exceptionally dense and beautifully executed, creating wonderful texture across the entire quilt, while the scalloped border perfectly echoes the points of the stars. Based on the fabrics, construction, and overall design, this quilt likely dates to circa 1935–1945.

This quilt was lovingly hand pieced, hand quilted, and hand bound, showcasing the skill and dedication of its maker. The condition is very good for its age, with only a few honest signs of a life well lived. There is some light yellowing visible on the backing and three stars show faint purple dye transfer, none of which detracts from the overall beauty or display value of the quilt. The soft palette of feedsack prints, intricate quilting, and charming scalloped edge make this a wonderful collector's piece, display quilt, or heirloom bed quilt. At Janj Threads, we are always drawn to quilts that combine craftsmanship with character, and this star-filled treasure shines brightly in both categories.
