Vintage Quilt Windsor Rose Cross-Stitched Kit Quilt – Circa 1985

This elegant vintage kit quilt features the “Windsor Rose” pattern, design #1524 by Progress. The kit was offered through the Herrschners catalog in 1985 in both Twin ($26.99) and Full/Queen ($33.99) sizes and appears to have also been available in Twin size through the Lee Wards catalog. The kit included white cotton fabric pre-stamped with the cross-stitch design. Beautifully worked pink roses, rosebuds, green leaves, and curling vines form a large oval wreath in the center, with coordinating floral motifs scattered around the outer portion of the quilt.

Measuring approximately 82" x 95", this quilt has thin batting and an applied binding finished by hand. The hand quilting is exceptionally well done, combining straight-line quilting, crosshatching, graceful curves, and interlocking cable designs that add wonderful texture throughout. The quilt is in excellent overall condition, with two small yellow spots on the front as shown in the photos. Janj Threads has not laundered this quilt; careful soaking and sunning may help fade the spot, although results cannot be guaranteed.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences.
