This exceptional Dresden Plate Variation quilt is a beautiful example of Depression-era craftsmanship, showcasing twenty hand-appliquéd plates created from a delightful assortment of colorful feedsack fabrics, florals, calicos, ginghams, and geometric prints. Each plate is uniquely arranged, giving the quilt wonderful visual interest while reflecting the resourcefulness and artistry of its maker. A striking sawtooth border frames the quilt beautifully, and the applied binding has been meticulously finished with hand stitching. Based on the fabrics, construction techniques, and overall design, this quilt is best dated to circa the late 1930s to early 1940s.

The workmanship throughout is truly outstanding. The plates are hand appliquéd, and the quilt features spectacular hand quilting with beautifully executed floral and scroll motifs that add remarkable texture and dimension.
