Vintage Quilt Scrappy Grandmother's Fan

This charming Scrappy Grandmother’s Fan Quilt, circa 1930s–1940s, measures 67" x 80" and features colorful fan blocks set against a generous white background with soft buttery-yellow centers. The fans are made from a wonderful assortment of vintage cottons, including small-scale florals, plaids, checks, stripes, geometrics and dress prints, with possible feedsack fabrics mixed throughout. The quilt has thin batting and is tied with pink yarn, adding a sweet decorative touch to the simple, scrappy design.

The quilt is finished with an applied, hand-stitched pink binding, which appears to have been replaced at some point in its history—likely a practical repair that helped extend the life of the quilt. Condition is consistent with age and use, with some seam separation within the fan blocks and yellowing on the backing. A wonderfully handmade quilt filled with colorful fabrics, make-do charm and plenty of vintage character.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads.
