Vintage Quilt Scrappy Dresden Plate Variation

A wonderful assortment of fabrics brings this Dresden Plate variation to life! Half plates form colorful fans, alternating in direction across a soft cream background. Florals, ginghams, plaids, stripes, paisleys, polka dots, and playful novelty prints create a quilt full of little details to discover. A delicate rosebud-print border frames the patchwork beautifully.

The fabrics suggest a quilt made circa 1960s–1970s, incorporating earlier fabrics, including feedsack pieces. Several small prints have the look of 1930s–1950s fabrics, while the bolder, larger floral designs suggest a later completion date.

Measuring 82" × 102", the quilt has thin batting and hand-stitched quilting that outlines the fans and forms diagonal designs across the background. The plates are attached with hand stitches. The edges are finished with the backing wrapped to the front and secured by hand stitching.

There are some spots on the front that will likely lighten or lift with gentle soaking, although removal cannot be guaranteed. Please review the photos for their locations and appearance.

With its generous size, cheerful fabric collection, and thoughtful handwork, this quilt would make a lovely addition to a vintage-inspired bedroom or quilt collection.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences.

Photos containing a green tag are intended to highlight an imperfection or area of concern. The green tag measures approximately 2” x 2” and is included to help give perspective on the size of the flaw. Cutter/Stacker quilts do not have green tags. Please review the photos carefully.
