THIS IS A CUTTER QUILT

There is a quiet beauty in quilts that have faithfully served their purpose, and this Vintage Pin Wheel quilt (KC Star 1953, Brackman 1717) is a wonderful example. Measuring approximately 70" x 80", it features the classic Quartered Star block in cheerful 1930s-era inspired fabrics. While time has taken its toll on portions of the quilt, 17 of the Quartered Star blocks remain completely intact, making this an outstanding candidate for creative repurposing. Whether you're looking to create pillows, teddy bears, stockings, table runners, bags, or other quilted treasures, this quilt offers an abundance of usable fabric with the charm and authenticity only a vintage textile can provide.

The quilt is machine quilted and finished with an applied, machine-stitched binding. The binding is in poor condition with fraying and tears throughout. There is little to no remaining batting, giving the quilt a soft, flexible feel that is easy to work with for repurposing projects. As expected with a well-loved cutter quilt, there are areas of fabric loss and deterioration, scattered spots, and a few small holes. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description and document the quilt's overall condition.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads.

  • Circa: Based on the fabrics, color palette, construction techniques, and the Quartered Star design, this quilt was most likely made during the late 1930s to early 1940s. The machine quilting and machine-applied binding reflect the growing use of home sewing machines during this period, while the prints retain the unmistakable charm associated with Depression-era quilting. Though it has reached the end of its life as a bed covering, it still has much to offer as a source of beautiful vintage fabric and quilt history ready to be given a second life.
