Vintage Quilt Nine Patch

This cheerful vintage Nine Patch quilt measures approximately 75" x 86" and features a wonderfully scrappy assortment of floral, geometric, polka-dot and novelty-print cottons. Many appear to be feedsack and dress fabrics, beautifully framed by alternating golden-yellow and warm cheddar-orange blocks. The quilt is finished with an applied binding that is hand stitched and contains lightweight batting. It is hand quilted at approximately seven stitches per inch, with the original quilter’s guidelines still visible—an intriguing detail that suggests the quilt may never have been washed.

Based on its Depression-era fabrics, cheerful color palette and traditional construction, this quilt likely dates to the late 1930s or early 1940s. The variety of prints gives it plenty of vintage character, while the strong yellow and orange setting fabrics create a warm, lively checkerboard effect. A charming example of practical scrap quilting from the era, it would be a beautiful addition to a vintage textile collection or farmhouse-inspired home.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences. Please be certain to color test this quilt before washing.
