Vintage Quilt Hexagonal Star

This charming vintage Hexagonal Star Appliqué Quilt measures 68" x 82" and is filled with wonderful color and personality. Twenty individual six-point stars are set against white blocks and framed by wide dusty turquoise-blue sashing. Each star combines colorful solids with period prints, including small florals, ditsy prints, geometrics, and fabrics consistent with 1930s–1940s dress cottons and feedsack prints. The appliqué is hand stitched, with the bold contrasting blanket stitching becoming an important part of the design itself. The quilt has thin batting and an applied binding that is hand stitched, with slight fraying noted along the binding. This quilt is tied.

The reverse is almost as interesting as the front, featuring a cheater-print backing fabric—a printed textile designed to imitate the look of pieced patchwork without actually being pieced. This quilt remains in good vintage condition overall, with some spots on the front and age-related wear consistent with its history. It has not been laundered by Janj Threads, leaving any future cleaning to the discretion of its new owner. The cheerful assortment of fabrics, hand-appliquéd stars, prominent blanket stitching, and unusual backing give this quilt a wonderfully homespun, folk-art quality.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences.

Condition: Very Good - one small notable hole and some spots.
Circa: Circa: Based on the fabrics, colors, prints, and construction techniques, this quilt most likely dates to circa 1935–1945, with circa 1940 being a reasonable estimate.
Batting: Thin
Standout: Beautiful Hexagonal Stars!
Shipping: (within the continental U.S.) and shipping insurance is included in the price of the item.

Photos containing a green tag are intended to highlight an imperfection or area of concern. The green tag measures approximately 2” x 2” and is included to help give perspective on the size of the flaw. Cutter/Stacker quilts do not have green tags. Please review the photos carefully.
