Vintage Quilt Dresden Star

THIS IS A CUTTER\STACKER QUILT

This charming Dresden Star Quilt is a beautiful variation of the classic Dresden design, featuring colorful stars that radiate from warm butter-yellow centers. Set against crisp white blocks and framed with cheerful butter-yellow sashing, each star showcases a delightful assortment of vintage fabrics, including many lovely feedsack prints, florals, shirtings, and novelty cottons. The quilt is finished with a striking pointed scalloped border, each point highlighting another unique vintage fabric and completed with an applied, hand-stitched binding. Hand quilting and thin batting give the quilt the soft texture and character that collectors love.

Measuring 72" x 84", this quilt is being offered as a cutter quilt due to fabric loss, seam separation and deterioration throughout, particularly along portions of the border and in scattered areas across the quilt. Although it is no longer suitable for everyday use as a bed quilt, it offers an abundance of authentic vintage fabrics and beautifully appliquéd Dresden Stars for restoration projects, repurposing, textile art, and other creative endeavors. Circa 1940s, based on the fabrics, hand appliqué, hand quilting, and overall construction, this quilt remains a visually stunning example of mid-century American quiltmaking despite its condition.

  • Condition: Cutter/Stacker
  • Circa:  Based on the fabrics, construction techniques, and quilting style, this quilt was most likely made during the 1940s. The abundant feedsack fabrics, hand appliqué, hand quilting, and charming pieced pointed scalloped border are all hallmarks of quilts from this era, making it a beautiful example of mid-century American quiltmaking.
  • Size: 72" x 84"
  • Batting: Thin
  • Standout: Lovely Dresden Stars!
  • Shipping: (within the continental U.S.) and shipping insurance is included in the price of the item.

    Please Read Before Purchasing 🤍

Due to the vintage and handmade nature of the items sold at Janj Threads, all sales are final.

We do our very best to carefully inspect each piece and note any flaws, fabric wear, fading, dye bleeding, spots, stains, repairs, or damage within the listing description and photos. However, because these quilts and textiles are often decades old, we may occasionally miss something.

Please take time to carefully review all photos provided for each item before completing your purchase.

Photos containing a green tag are intended to highlight an imperfection or area of concern. The green tag measures approximately 2” x 2” and is included to help give perspective on the size of the flaw. Cutter/Stacker quilts do not have green tags. Please review the photos carefully.

Vintage quilts and textiles carry the beauty of age, history, and use, and minor imperfections are often part of their story and charm.
