Vintage Quilt Dresden Plate

THIS IS A CUTTER/STACKER

This charming Vintage Dresden Plate quilt measures approximately 86" x 86" and features 25 large plates arranged in a five-by-five setting. Each plate is pieced with 16 blades and finished with a warm peach-orange center. The wonderful scrappy assortment includes pastel florals, plaids, dots, geometric designs, and novelty prints, many of which appear consistent with 1930s feedsack and dress fabrics. A coordinating peach-orange inner border frames the plates, while the wide white outer border showcases the quilt’s beautiful hand stitching. The quilt has a lightweight batting and an applied binding that is hand stitched.

This quilt is being offered as a cutter quilt due to fabric loss, deterioration, and seam separation within several of the Dresden Plates. Of the 25 plates, 16 remain intact, leaving many lovely sections available for pillows, framed pieces, sewing projects, or other creative repurposing. The elaborate hand quilting—including interlocking cables, decorative floral motifs, and crosshatching in the outer border—adds wonderful texture and provides many desirable areas for upcycling. Soft, timeworn, and filled with authentic vintage character, this quilt is a beautiful candidate for a second life. Circa 1930s–early 1940s.

This Quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Any cleaning decisions have been left to the next caretaker to preserve the quilt according to their preferences.
