Vintage Gandmother's Fan Quilt

Cheerful, sunny, and full of vintage charm, this beautiful Grandmother’s Fan quilt showcases thirty unique fan blocks, each pieced from a delightful assortment of vintage fabrics in soft pastels and classic feedsack-era prints. The fans are appliquéd onto crisp white backgrounds and framed by sunny yellow sashing and a vibrant pink border, creating a quilt that feels both joyful and timeless. The extensive hand quilting is truly a highlight, with graceful fan motifs, feather quilting, and diamond crosshatching that create wonderful texture across the entire quilt.

Measuring approximately 78" x 91", this quilt is hand quilted and finished with an applied hand-bound binding. Based on the fabrics, construction techniques, and quilting style, we estimate this quilt dates from approximately 1945–1960, while incorporating many earlier fabrics from the 1930s and 1940s. The batting is lightweight, giving the quilt a lovely drape and comfortable feel. Condition is very good overall with one notable spot and some binding fray consistent with age and use. Otherwise, the quilt presents cleanly with no significant fabric wear or loss noted. A wonderful example of mid-century quilt making that beautifully preserves the charm of earlier feedsack and dress-print fabrics.

This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads.
