Vintage Grandmother's Fan Quilt

The yellow in this quilt is a clean buttery yellow. In some of the photos it does not appear to be. The Pink if bubblegum pink but may appear a shade of purple in the photos. See the color disclaimer at the end of the product description.

Grandmother’s Fan quilts have a way of bringing sunshine into a room, and this charming example is no exception. Measuring 68" x 80", this quilt showcases rows of cheerful fan blocks created from a delightful mix of vintage cotton prints. Look closely and you'll discover an assortment of feedsack fabrics, florals, novelty prints, geometrics, and cheerful Depression-era colors that tell the story of resourceful quilting and generations of careful handiwork. The soft lemon-yellow background paired with bubblegum-pink accents creates a bright, happy palette that feels as fresh today as it did decades ago. Lightweight batting gives this quilt a wonderfully comfortable feel, while the hand quilting adds beautiful texture throughout.

Adding to its unique character, the fan blades feature machine stitching along the top and bottom edges, a detail that offers a glimpse into the maker's process and the evolving sewing techniques of the period. The quilt is hand quilted and hand bound, and remains in very nice vintage condition. Based on the fabrics and construction, Janj Threads estimates the fabrics date primarily from the late 1930s through the 1940s, with the quilt likely assembled and finished sometime between the late 1940s and early 1950s. This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads. Whether displayed as a piece of textile history or enjoyed as a cozy cuddle quilt, it offers a beautiful blend of craftsmanship, color, and vintage charm.
