Vintage Glorified Nine Patch Quilt

This charming Glorified Nine Patch, also known as an Improved Nine Patch, is a wonderful example of Depression-era quilt making. Measuring 66" x 77", it features a delightful assortment of feedsack florals, novelty prints, shirtings, and navy polka dots, all framed by a cheerful pink colorway that immediately catches the eye. The curved piecing creates beautiful overlapping circles and petal shapes across the quilt, while the scalloped edges add even more vintage character. Hand quilted and hand bound, this quilt has a lightweight batting that gives it a soft, comfortable drape while still allowing the lovely hand quilting to shine through.

As expected with a well-loved vintage quilt, there are areas of seam separation and some places where the hand quilting stitches have come out, both of which are reflected in the photos. Janj Threads has not laundered this quilt. There is yellowing present on the back that may lighten or be removed with a careful soak, provided the fabrics are tested for colorfastness prior to laundering. Despite these condition notes, this quilt remains a beautiful and highly collectible piece with wonderful feedsack fabrics, a striking pink palette, and all the charm that makes vintage quilts so special. Circa 1935–1945.
