Vintage Glorified Nine Patch Quilt

This is a Cutter/Stacker Quilt

This charming Glorified Nine Patch cutter quilt measures approximately 68" x 74" and is a beautiful example of Depression-era quiltmaking. Dating to circa 1930s–1940s, the quilt features a delightful collection of feedsack fabrics, shirtings, and pastel cotton prints arranged within the beloved Glorified Nine Patch pattern. Soft pink setting pieces frame each block, creating a cheerful design that remains striking even after decades of loving use. The quilt is hand quilted throughout and finished with a hand-stitched knife-edge binding. A lovely vintage backing fabric completes the piece and adds to its authentic charm. This quilt has not been laundered by Janj Threads

This quilt is being offered as a cutter quilt and shows extensive fabric loss in many areas, particularly within some of the dark fabrics. Of the 56 Nine Patch blocks, approximately 46 remain suitable for repurposing, making this an excellent candidate for pillows, bags, jackets, wall art, and other creative projects. The surviving fabrics showcase the wonderful mix of florals, plaids, shirtings, and feedsack prints that collectors love from the Depression era. While no longer suitable as an everyday bed quilt, it offers an abundance of usable vintage fabric and a wonderful opportunity to give these historic textiles a second life—one stitch at a time.
